Planning ahead to see which events could be attended throughout September, one of note was the 'Black Mark Day' event being held at the Nikko Circuit in Tochigi prefecture. Before I had even made any further notes to see which event would be best to go to, Roughsmoke recieved an invitation from one of our friends - Hideki Nagahama - Boss over at N-Stlye Customs in Gunma, whom with friends and the team from Garage BB would be hosting the event. As Hideki and Co. have always looked out us I couldn't possible say no. Check out some of the action below, and as always click on the pics below to take a larger look.
N-Style Extended Family
As above, the N-Style Family have been on hand to make friends with Roughsmoke since our first trip to Japan up until now and our full-time move to the country. It's always great to see how much effort they put into making the drift days at Nikko go smooothly and as much fun for all that attend Nikko. I want to extended a big thank you to Nagahama-san, Nakamura-san, Makoto-san, Yuuya-san, Takuya-san and everyone else from N-Style whom are always great to hang with..!
Whilst social media is at the edge of our fingertips at any given time on any given day in this generation, it would be easy to jump online and see a host of negativity about drifting in relation to judges and the calls they make. So it is always good to head out to soukoukai events like these where it's all about fun and just getting out there no matter what. Here's a selection of pics from the action.
If at an event like this and your favourite drifter or team should not be on track as there is another class running, then there is always bound to be something else going on that may capture your attention..
One person I was happy to see make the event as well, was Nojima-san. In the day he runs his own tuner garage at the side of his house - ''Nojireal'' that has a copious amount of Hachi's laying around that he fixes up and borrows parts from to keep three of his own up and running. And by night he acts as mechanic & painter over at RWB, the famous wide body porsche tuner shop owned by Nakai-san. Nojima-san was utilising one of his cars on the day with a friend and customer and took the time out to act as a spotter for the for-mentioned and then we all headed back to the pits where he explained some finer tactics of how the course could be tackled.
As is evident throughout the article here - events like these are as much about the people as they are the cars. Everyone is so relaxed and willing to help out with others should any issues arise with their rides. Practical jokes being played throughout the day, and all round a great atmosphere to enjoy the day..
All in all a great day had by everyone. Our thanks go out to Hideki-san and the N-Style Family for their invite, to Garage BB, and to everyone else that made this day fun for eveyone. We'll be sure to head back North to see you all again soon!
